A New Patient Evaluation visit is a type of doctor visit at South Strand Cardiology that is aimed at addressing a specific type of cardiovascular-related condition or to further investigate a suspected heart problem or potential heart disease. If you have questions about your cardiovascular health, or have never had any previous evaluation, you may want to request a complete cardiovascular health review.
A Cardiology Patient Evaluation will require a minimum of a basic physical and any available medical history records. South Strand Cardiology offers multiple baseline cardiovascular tests and diagnostic tests. The scope of the evaluation will be determined in accordance to your age, needs, and overall level of health. We can tailor the tests and treatments based upon your individual risk factors and wellness goals.
The cardiologist will review your past medical history, perform a thorough physical examination, and administer tests to assess your risk of developing heart disease, or the stage of any existing heart problems or other cardiovascular concerns.
Whether medical therapy and/or other interventional procedures are deemed necessary, we believe that prevention is the best medicine and that education is the best tool. We will work closely with you and your primary care physician to incorporate your cardiovascular needs with your general medical care.
Typically, upon the completion of any additional tests that were requested, you may be scheduled for a a follow-up visit in order to carefully review your test results in the context of the presenting symptoms. If you arrive with all of the necessary test results from your previous physician, no further testing would be required and the test results would be discussed clearly with you to initiate any necessary treatment as well as further health monitoring.
Patients with these symptoms or conditions can benefit from a New Patient Evaluation Visit
A New Patient Evaluation appointment may take up to an hour or more. Please try to arrive early, approximately 10 minutes or more before your scheduled time, as there are a few forms we will need you to complete prior to your appointment. You may print these forms from our website to complete and bring with you. We make every attempt to stay on a timely schedule.
Please remember to bring your insurance card, your identification card, and a list of any medications or supplements you are currently taking. We need to know about all the medicines, vitamins, and supplements (whether prescribed or over-the-counter) as studies have found that some health-related problems can result from side effects, medications not being used as prescribed, or from interactions that can occur from certain combinations of medicines and supplements.
Following your appointment, information regarding your visit, including lab reports and office notes, can be obtained through the South Strand Cardiology Patient Portal. The portal also allows for payments to be submitted online, and it is designed to provide you with 24/7 access to your health information maintained by our practice. We aim to keep your information updated in a timely manner, however, results from certain tests may take several days to receive and input into your portal records.
